STEM workshop on electronics and robotics in the village of Resen

On March 6, 2023, the second of a series of robotics and electronics workshops organized by the Tinusaur Foundation as part of the Vivacom Regional Grant project was held at “Hristo Botev” Primary School in the village of Resen, and Mr. Neven Boyanov, the founder of the foundation, personally taught and showed the children how to assemble the boards and how to program them.

The workshop aims to offer children an exciting experience, combining fun with learning. So they not only learn how an electric circuit works and what the functions of components such as resistors, capacitors, and LEDs are, but they can also take their first steps in programming. For them, it is an opportunity to expand their creativity and develop science, technology, engineering, and mathematics skills.

The event was held in one of the specialized classrooms in the school at a convenient time for both the students and the teachers, as they were also present and followed the events with interest, even getting actively involved and helping the students if needed. Thus, children learn to work in a team and cooperate to achieve common goals.

12 children from 3rd to 7th grade participated in the workshop, each receiving an individual Tinusaur Kids.Micro set with the necessary circuit boards and assembly tools worth about EUR 25.

The school in the village of Resen is relatively small and has 87 students, but it is well-equipped and modernized enough to provide its students with quality education. The teachers are dedicated and proactive, and with the support of the director – Mrs. Daniela Dobreva, and the teacher Marina Pashova, often organize extracurricular activities and encourage children to participate in various projects.

All the children successfully assembled and programmed their boards and did not even know when the four astronomical hours had passed during which they studied, soldered, constructed, and programmed, developing their logical thinking, creativity, and interest in electronics.

This is also the goal of our Vivacom Regional Grant project – to make the students of these small but developing schools feel special, to introduce them to the vast world of electronics, to awaken in them an interest in science and technology, and to inspire them to create and develop.
